The JITO Ahmedabad Chapter hosted a highly successful and insightful session on Estate & Succession Planning: Craft a Lasting Legacy – Plan for Family Continuity, Business Stability, and Financial Security on Friday, 2nd May 2025 at YMCA Club, Ahmedabad. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 attendees, including heads of families, key decision makers, business owners, professionals, entrepreneurs, and family office managers. The session was led by CA Rajesh Dedhia, SVP – Universal Trustees, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on the importance of structured estate and succession planning for ensuring family harmony, business continuity, and long-term financial security.
The event began with a warm welcome and felicitation of the speaker by the JITO Ahmedabad leadership. Sr. Vice Chairman Rajeev Chhajer, Vice Chairman & Incharge Finance Committee Vaibhav Shah, and Convener Finance Committee Indresh Shah presented a memento to CA Rajesh Dedhia, while Chief Secretary Manish Shah, Vice Chairman Charul Vakta, and Vice Chairman Piyush Jain greeted him with a stole. Throughout the session, CA Rajesh Dedhia emphasized the necessity of asset structuring for wealth preservation, asset protection, tax optimization, and seamless succession. He provided a comparative analysis of Wills and Trusts, highlighting their respective benefits in terms of privacy, asset protection, tax efficiency, and smooth transfer of authority. The presentation also covered various trust structures-revocable, irrevocable, discretionary, and determinate-and their relevance for Indian families and businesses, as well as the legal frameworks governing estate planning in India.
A notable highlight of the session was the use of real-life case studies by the speaker to illustrate different scenarios and effective strategies for wealth management and succession planning. These examples helped attendees understand how to navigate complex family and business situations, making the concepts more relatable and actionable.
