The JITO Ladies Wing Ahmedabad proudly hosted a thrilling Gujarat zone Box Cricket Tournament “Gujarat JLW Power Cup’ on 21st March 2025, bringing together 65 players from eight teams from across Gujarat— Ahmedabad, Bardoli, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Gandhidham, Surat, Vadodara and Vapi. The tournament was not just a competition but a celebration of sportsmanship, camaraderie and teamwork. Ahmedabad team was headed by Convener Smt. Priyanka Shah under the leadership of JLW Chairperson Sharmila Shah & team and mentored by Smt. Sushma Kankaria.
All teams arrived at noon and their stay was arranged at Rajpath club. To ensure a warm welcome, a delightful lunch was organized, where 120 people including players, mentors and members from the Ahmedabad chapter bonded over meaningful conversations, discussing future plans and forming new friendships. Before heading to the ground, each player received a special kit to help them stay protected from the sun and perform at their best. After a short rest, we moved to the venue, where a high tea was arranged. To energize the participants, we hosted a fun Zumba session, setting the perfect mood for an exciting evening of cricket.
The tournament followed a knockout format. The first round saw four matches played simultaneously on two grounds, with the winning teams advancing to the next stage, leading to the semi-finals. The final match was played between Ahmedabad and Gandhidham, with Gandhidham emerging as the champions and Ahmedabad as the Runner-up. The excitement, competitive spirit and sportsmanship displayed throughout the event were truly commendable.

As the matches progressed, a delicious dinner was followed, allowing players to unwind and celebrate their performances as they finished their games. The tournament was a grand success, filled with enthusiasm, teamwork and lasting memories. JITO Ahmedabad Ladies Wing is proud to have hosted this event, fostering not just a love for sports but also strengthening the bonds within our community.
